Meeting Need with Care: MedWish MedWorks & Ukraine Aid

Our shared humanity asks us to help our fellow world citizens in the face of hardships every day. At MedWish MedWorks we strive to relieve suffering by taking surplus and sending it to those in need, working to improve the lives of our fellow neighbors. We do this by working with incredible nonprofit partners who share our vision to be a healthcare stopgap in the face of institutional insufficiencies around the world.

One of those partners is Ukraine Aid. Founded in the face of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, CEO and Founder Dennis DeSantis felt the calling to relieve suffering of the Ukrainian people caught in the crossfire of a modernized war that has been marked by increases in drone and trench warfare leading to untold suffering.

Ukraine Aid vets hospitals in Ukraine and hand selects projects Dennis deems the most fit for shipments from MedWish MedWorks. In the last four years, he has sent 13 containers with MedWish MedWorks and plans to send three more containers in 2026. In that time MedWish MedWorks has sent 172,255.19 lbs., worth a fair market value of $3,398,477 USD, of highly needed medical supplies to Ukraine in the service of saving lives and increasing the institutional capacities of hospitals in the region. While it is difficult to pinpoint the number of people impacted, it is likely we have helped Ukrainian hospitals serve over 178,000 patients.

This work has been recognized by many as truly impactful in helping relieve suffering and meeting the needs of patients affected by war in Ukraine. We have received many tokens of appreciation from this work. Hospitals send letters of thanks. Ukrainian parliamentary member Victoria Gryb sent us letters of appreciation. And Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko presented MedWish MedWorks and Ukraine Aid with an award of gratitude from the Association of Ukrainian Cities (ACU).

The work we do together with Ukraine Aid and all of our recipients truly makes a world of difference. As we look forward to continuing to serve those in need in partnership with Ukraine Aid, we need to thank our donors, volunteers, staff, and board members who make this work possible. Your support means we can continue to be good world citizens bonded together to serve the people of the world.
