Give Medical Supplies a Second Life: Donate, Don’t Discard

Every day, usable medical supplies and equipment are tossed aside—not because they’re broken or unsafe, but because they’re no longer needed in one place. What many people don’t realize is that these same items can become lifelines somewhere else.

By donating medical supplies that are functional and in good working condition, you’re doing two powerful things at once: keeping valuable materials out of landfills and putting essential resources into the hands of people who truly need them.

Why Your Donation Matters

Protect the environment. Medical waste is a growing environmental challenge. When usable supplies are donated instead of discarded, we reduce landfill waste and extend the life of products that took energy and resources to create.

Support healthcare access. Your donated supplies help clinics, hospitals, and community partners care for patients who might otherwise go without. What feels small to you can make a world of difference to someone else.

Create impact close to home and around the world. Donations help strengthen healthcare systems locally and globally, ensuring quality care is within reach for more people.

What We Gladly Accept

We welcome used medical supplies and equipment that are fully functional, sanitized, and in good working condition. Items cannot be expired. Supplies with expiration dates must have at least 12 months of life remaining. Before donating, please double-check that items are usable and safe for redistribution.

Items We Cannot Accept

To ensure safety and quality for recipients, we are unable to accept the following:

  • Medications (over-the-counter or prescription)

  • Durable medical equipment that is broken, rusted, torn, or not in good working condition

  • Items contaminated by direct patient contact, such as respiratory tubing

  • Expired PPE — many supplies from the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic may be expired. Please note: manufacturer expiration dates are typically printed on the inside packaging, not on the outer boxes

  • Renal IV bags

  • Tube feeding liquids

  • Items that have been recalled

Before You Donate

A quick check goes a long way:

  • Make sure equipment is cleaned and sanitized

  • Confirm items are fully functional

  • Look for expiration dates on inner packaging, especially for PPE

Be Part of the Solution

Choosing to donate instead of discard is a simple, meaningful way to care for both people and the planet. Your thoughtful donation helps reduce waste, conserve resources, and ensure vital medical supplies reach those who need them most.

Together, we can give medical supplies a second life—and create a healthier, more sustainable future for all.
