Mobility Means Freedom

Kelly faced a life-changing medical crisis in 2023, when a wellness check found her unresponsive on the floor of her home. Her sister, living in Ohio, flew down to Georgia immediately after hearing the news. Kelly was later diagnosed with Rhabdomyolysis, a rare condition where skeletal muscle tissue breaks down, often leading to kidney failure and other serious complications. After a long hospital stay and a gradual recovery, Kelly’s sister was finally able to bring her to Ohio to provide ongoing care.

During the following months, Kelly underwent extensive physical therapy and countless doctor visits. She was only able to walk short distances with a cane, living with severe chronic pain and multiple illnesses. Daily tasks that most people take for granted became major challenges, and independence felt out of reach.

Unable to work, Kelly’s sister stepped in to support her physically and financially for months while they waited for Medicaid and food assistance to be approved. Yet through it all, she remained steadfast in her devotion to Kelly’s care and wellbeing.

Fortunately, through MedWish MedWorks, Kelly received an electric wheelchair—a gift that would transform her daily life. “You have given my sister a second chance at independence,” her sister shared. “I have been praying that somehow, I would be able to purchase my sister an electric wheelchair, and you came into our lives.”

This wheelchair has provided Kelly with the mobility and freedom to move safely around her home and neighborhood, giving her a renewed sense of independence and dignity.
