This paid staff position will be responsible for the coordination and supervision of MedWish’s valuable volunteers, whose work to ensure the flow of the supply chain of medical supplies is critical to the success of MedWish International. Annually, roughly 3,500 volunteers visit MedWish to sort, pack, and process donated items in order to make them available for shipments as international humanitarian aid. The Volunteer & Supply Chain Associate will oversee sorting projects for these volunteers and process supplies to ensure the timely flow of the MedWish supply chain. In addition to producing sorted product and leading those volunteering, the Associate will help create and improve the general volunteer experiences at MedWish. This position reports to the Director of Operations.

– Work with the Director of Operations, along with other identified members of the Operations staff, to improve and increase the amount of overall sorting.
– Assist with, and supervise, volunteer groups involved in all levels of the supply sorting and processing stages.
– Engage with and supervise the work of interns, individuals, large groups as they sort and process medical supplies.
– Understand and enforce MedWish’s sorting policies with the ability to accurately educate volunteers and staff.
– Under the direction of the Director of Operations, perceive, anticipate, and prioritize sorting needs/ projects.
– Assist with set up and cleanup of sorting projects for general volunteers.
– Sort medical supplies through both the gross and fine sorting process alongside volunteers and independently as needed.
– Maintain the bulk supply areas both with the assistance of volunteers and independently.

– Assist with mission critical projects, special events, the inventory audit, and other organizational needs.
– Maintain a clean warehouse and assist with facility maintenance and cleaning needs as requested.

– Follow MedWish’s health and safety protocols and standards, and promote a safe and productive work environment for all staff, volunteers, and visitors.

– Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
– Ability to work on your feet for an extended amount of time (6-7 hours per day).
– Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on a frequent basis.
– Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, non-traditional work environment.
– Ability to work in a dusty and potentially hot or cold warehouse environment.
– Medical background helpful, but not required.
– Multi-lingual helpful, but not required.
– Strong computer skills (email, Internet research, Microsoft Office programs, and Google apps).
– Must pass a background check and drug screen.
– GED or High School Equivalence.

JOB TYPE: Hourly, Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Tuesday – Friday from 9am-3:30pm | Saturdays (2 per month) from 8:30am-12pm | Additional hours may be available/scheduled on occasion for special events.
