Autism Awareness Month
April is Autism Awareness Month! MedWish is proud to work with a number of agencies that help our fellow Clevelanders that live with autism through our Skill Building Program.
In this program, people can come to MedWish to learn valuable job skills that will help them develop and become more independent. Because there is still a lack of education on autism, there is often a stigma that prevents many with it from getting jobs and opportunities that many take for granted. Our Skill Building Program is our way of breaking down these misconceptions and helping those who are looking for an opportunity to grow and shine!
Some of the participants in this program include Bellefaire JCB, Crossroads, Friends for Life, Monarch Center for Autism, Ohio Guidestone, Positive Education Program (PEP), and Vocational Guidance Services (VGS). The individuals in the Skill Building Program give thousands of hours of service each year to MedWish and we are so thankful for their time and enthusiasm.
We are happy to MAKE OUR MARK with the autistic community and we look forward to the Skill Building Program expanding in the future!
