The medical surplus we distribute globally promotes healthier communities. Because these items are not in landfills, we are helping to keep the planet healthier, too. Since its inception, MedWish has shipped life-saving supplies to 111 countries. Please learn about some of our programs:

Procurement Program:

MedWish recovers usable medical surplus from approximately 120 healthcare institutions in Northeast Ohio and individuals from all over the country. To become a hospital champion, please contact Sakina Kapasi at 216.692.1685 x44 or via email at  skapasi@medwish.org.

Individuals may donate medical supplies and equipment to MedWish. Commonly donated items include:

Donations may be dropped-off at our world headquarters from Tuesday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Call us at (216) 692-1685 x55 for more details!

Humanitarian Aid Program:

Recipients in more than 111 countries have requested supplies and equipment from MedWish. The process is simple. International recipients interested in receiving supplies must follow an application and vetting process. For more information, please click HERE.

Local & Domestic Giving Program:

MedWish International partners with local agencies in order to fulfill the needs of our local community. We’ve realized that every day, many families and individuals struggle to find assistance in getting the medical equipment they need to improve a loved one’s quality of life. This program supplements our mission and allows us to serve vulnerable populations in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.

If you are a local or domestic social agency making a request on behalf of a recipient, please contact our Humanitarian Aid Program Manager, Jennifer Buck at 216.692.1685 x66 or via email at domesticaid@medwish.org for further assistance.

Volunteer Program:

Thousands of volunteers per year help MedWish fulfill its mission of saving lives all over the world. Volunteers sort, quality check and pack medical surplus donations. You can volunteer just once or often, alone or in large groups. Also, you don’t have to be a medical expert to help – you just have to be willing to ask questions!

To register, please click HERE, and if you have a special group request that falls outside of our schedule, or if you have any questions, please contact us at volunteer@medwish.org. We help corporate groups with special volunteer days/events, contact information for local catering, and matching gifts/suggested donations for corporate service.

Children 13 and older are permitted to volunteer.

Skill Building Program:

Skill Building Program volunteers come daily or weekly to support our mission while developing their own skills.  The Skill Building Program facilitates vocational training for people with autism, disabilities, or other barriers to employment. Approximately, 100 skill building participants are vital contributors to the MedWish mission every week.

If your agency is interested in learning more about this opportunity, please contact Caley Haehn at chaehn@medwish.org or at 216.692.1685 x77.

Brigades Program:

Participating in a MedWish Medical Brigade is a wonderful way to give time, talents, and compassion to those in need. During these Brigades, participants will set up clinic sites in local villages, and help improve the livelihoods of local residents.

Medical professionals and nonmedical participants are welcome on these Brigades, and both will have the opportunity to serve in the different aspects of the project.

To learn more about this program and upcoming trips, please contact Britta Latz at Blatz@medwish.org or by phone at 216.692.1685 x33.

Alternative Recycling Program:

MedWish partners with domestic nonprofits to re-purpose supplies unfit for humanitarian aid distribution. They are no longer sterile and/or are expired, and therefore cannot be distributed for medical use. To become an Alternative Recycling partner, please call us at 216.692.1685 and speak to our Alternative Recycling Associate, Susie Wager.
