How to Help : Create a Recycling Partnership with MedWish

Create a recovery program at your local hospital or healthcare facility. MedWish will help you develop and implement a successful recovery program at your local hospital or healthcare facility. Other healthcare facilities, nursing homes, and hospices are also encouraged to participate in the MedWish Recovery Program. Individuals wishing to donate health-related products can call the warehouse and schedule a drop off of unused medical supplies and usable medical equipment. MedWish is unable to accept any type of pharmaceutical donation at this time.

The MedWish Recovery Program offers medical supply houses and distributors excellent opportunities to convert surplus medical items into life-saving humanitarian aid!

Call or email MedWish to discuss your Recovery Program, it’s as easy a 1-2-3!

Steps to a successful recovery!

Step 1: Hospitals agree to participate in the MedWish International Recovery Program.  Once a hospital or healthcare facility agrees to participate in the “Medical Supply Recovery Program,” MedWish International will schedule a brief in-service to educate employees on the process for donating unused medical supplies and usable equipment. Collection bins, posters, and other requested supplies will be provided to ensure an easy and successful recovery operation.

Step 2: Materials are collected routinely from each site and delivered to the MedWish warehouse for the Recycling Phase.  Once these items are received at the MedWish warehouse, MedWish staff identifies and evaluates the donated medical supplies and equipment.  Sorts are regularly scheduled to allow our volunteers to sort and repack these life-saving materials. Staff enters descriptive information into the inventory database and the supplies are ready to disburse.

Step 3: Through our “request for supplies” form, recipients “order" the medical supplies and equipment they need. Once the recipient has been approved by MedWish International, the order is pulled from inventory and filled. The contents of each shipment is tailored to meet the "needs list" of the recipient organization.  Once the order is completed, the local contact picks up the supplies to hand carry to the destination country, or the supplies are shipped via container to the overseas recipient.
