How to Help : Children's Program Partnerships
|
MedWish International welcomes the opportunity to partner
with schools and children’s programs in
churches and other organizations. We have found partnering
with such organizations to be mutually beneficial,
and we are delighted to have the chance to educate the youth
about our important two-fold mission: to
save lives in developing countries and to save the
environment locally.
MedWish can work with teachers and program coordinators to
develop a customized partnership. Below
are some possible ways that we can partner:
- Have a Mission or Service Project Launch Party where a MedWish representative can present photos and video of how MedWish is saving lives globally.Have a MedWish Sorting Party right in the classroom. MedWish can provide an easy sorting, counting or packing project that can be completed at your facility, allowing students a hands-on experience of supporting our mission.
- Set up your own Medical Supply Collection Program. Students can collect supplies that MedWish is always greatly in need of. Collection bins or baskets can be placed in classrooms and MedWish can provide an example basket of needed supplies to be used as a visual aid for the students. Students can even create specific kits filled with greatly needed products (see our MedWish SupplyWish List ).
- Have a Silver for Supplies Campaign. Students can collect “silver” (coins) in their own collection container at home and bring it in to class. MedWish can possibly supply your program with individual collection containers. Or build a MedWish Clinic collection container where everyone at school can add their spare change.
- Have a school or class “Party-with-a-Purpose.” Students can bring in a donation to MedWish to participate in an ice cream, pizza, or movie party, etc.
- Encourage students to be a part of our Recovery Program from healthcare facilities. Students can write a letter to their pediatrician, doctors or dentists, encouraging them to donate their surplus supplies and equipment to MedWish (a Sample Doctor Letter can be provided).
- Set up a world map in school where students can identify and learn about the over 75 countries that MedWish has provided medical aid to (see the About Us: Countries Assisted page on our website for an updated list: http://www.medwish-international.org/countries_assisted.html).
- Older students (13 years or older) can do a service day at the MedWish warehouse where they can tour our facility and do some hands-on sorting and packing of supplies for upcoming shipments.
- Present to MedWish your creative idea of how to partner. We are excited to hear about what other fun, creative ways we can partner with your organization!
Please send us any photos or examples of activities that
you’ve done with your
students. We love to share how so many great people are
supporting our mission
in fun ways!
