Brigade Volunteer: Jackie Ponsky

Name: Jackie Ponsky

What is your profession?

Retired social worker

Hometown: Cleveland

How did you get involved in MedWish/the medical brigade?

Gave birth to Lee Ponsky

Have you participated in past medical brigades with MedWish?

All but one. The only one that I missed was El Salvador because half way there, my daughter in law went into labor. So from Houston I went back home.

What are you most looking forward to during this trip?

Making someone’s day better.

What skills do you bring with you on this trip?

I have no skills. As a social worker I can listen to people’s problems, but since I don’t speak Spanish, I won’t know what they would be saying, so if you need something, wave me down.

If you plan to Tweet from the trip, please share your Twitter handle so our supporters can follow you!

I’m 65. What the heck is tweeting?

What is your favorite international travel tip?

Chill out. Don’t bring your American rules with you. Go with the flow. Don’t pack too much. Bring toilet paper.

A fun fact about me:

People know everything about me. I am an open book. But feel free to ask me about my grandchildren.
