Fieldnotes from Pakistan

Here’s a photo from the recent unloading of a MedWish container that arrived in Pakistan last month. The medical equipment and supplies in this container will fuel the good work of doctors and students at Punjab Medical College in Faisalabad, Pakistan.

Fabiola Heinz-Blanco, one of our super-volunteers in Columbus, Ohio, connected us with Dr. Shahid Sheikh. He and his team at the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent (APPNA) Ohio funded and coordinated this shipment.

According to Dr. Sheikh, Punjab Medical College and its affiliated hospitals serve more then 3 million people in central Punjab in Pakistan, and provide free medical care too the poor. The medical equipment and supplies we sent will also support the work of the college’s outreach health awareness program, Emed, which provides primary care and teaching in poor local communities.

There’s a lot that goes into finding the right supplies to fill a container. Dr. Sheikh and his team documented the process in photos on APPNA-Ohio’s Facebook page.
